The real name Tabassum Hashmi , was born in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, on November 4, 1972. Younger sister of yesteryear actress Farha, Tabu was discovered by Dev Anand, who gave her a role in ‘Hum Naujawan’ when she was 10. The legendary Dev had predicted that Tabu would leave an indelible mark with her acting in the years to come.
Tabu has differs from those of typical Bollywood heroines. With loads of talent, over the years, Tabu, for sure, has carved a niche for herself as an actress.
After ‘Hum Naujawan’, in her youth Tabu was chosen by Satish Kaushik and Boney Kapoor to play the lead role opposite latter’s brother Sanjay Kapoor in ‘Prem’. Though the movie failed miserably at the box office, Tabu did not give up. She struggled with movies like ‘Vijaypath’, where she had to play roles which were not her cup of tea.
It was Gulzar’s Maachis that ignited Tabbu’s film career and earned her acclaim for her intense role that of a lover of a militant (Chandrachur Singh). She went on to win the National Award for her performance in the movie and since then there was no looking back for her.
Right from Priyadarsan to Gulzar to Mahesh Manjrekar and David Dhawan, Tabu has worked with all the top directors of the country. Astitva, Chandni Bar, Meenaxi: A Tale of Two cities or Maqbool have been some of the movies having Tabu’s most memorable performances.
After Maachis, Chandni Bar earned Tabu the National Film Award for Best Actress for the second time in 2002 . She has also won three statuettes in the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance category for Virasat (1997), Hu Tu Tu (1999), and Astitva (2000) respectively.
She had also done a commendable job in a south Indian hit—Kandukondain. In 2006, she starred for a small duration alongside Kajol and Aamir Khan in Kunal Kohli's, Fanaa, playing the role of a ‘tough cop’ fighting militants.

Out With the Old.....
As we wind down 2010, and look ahead to 2011, I wanted to take care of one of my several loose ends from the past year.
Back in July, I met a guy named John on the D train. He had tattooed arms and we chatted a bit. He said he'd send me photos and he did a few weeks later.
I never posted the photos because the resolution was low, and when I tried to increase the size, they blurred. I was going to include these in the Christmas housecleaning post, but the work is just too good.
So hear you have them, small photos, but recognizably amazing:
I mean, what is there to say? This work is quite excellent. The koi, the tiger, the sailing ship, sugar skull, nautical stars - it's all quite a body of work!
The artist is Nacho, who appeared once before on the blog here. You can check out Nacho's work here. in New York, he tattoos out of Studio Enigma on Avenue U.
Thanks to John for sharing these amazing tattoos with us here on Tattoosday!
And thanks to all of our fans and contributors for making 2010 a successful year of inkspotting!

Babak baru tinggal diluar Depok
Wah orientasi dulu nih:)
A Bright Spot in December: A Phoenix and a Pin-Up
As one would expect, inkspotting is tough during December. Here we are at the end of the month, and I have only interviewed three people since the 1st. There were a few times over the summer when I interviewed three contributors during my lunch hour!
The last person whose work I photographed was Megan, who I found upstairs at the Penn Plaza Borders store.
Megan has seventeen tattoos, but it was this one that caught my eye:
This is a phoenix, of course, but fewer people may recognize it as Fawkes, the phoenix of Professor Albus Dumbledore, in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
The artwork is based on the illustration by Jason Cockcroft on the cover of the UK edition of the aforementioned book.
The tattooist Jamie Nichols at Gargoyle Tattoo in Aberdeen, Washington, completed this piece in about eight hours over two sittings.
Megan also has this pinup on her upper left arm:
The use of negative space for the bombs is pretty cool.
Marcus was the artist at Gargoyle that Megan credited for creating this piece..
Thanks to Megan for taking the time to speak to me about her cool tattoos!

Tommy Hilfiger Bags
Thomas Jacob "Tommy" Hilfiger (born March 24, 1951) is an American fashion designer and founder of the brand Tommy Hilfiger.
Hilfiger was born and raised in Elmira, New York. The second of nine children, he grew up in an Irish-American family; he claims direct descent from Scottish poet Robert Burns. His parents originally intended for him to be an engineer. He attended Elmira Free Academy for high school. Rather than furthering his education, he started to work in retail at the age of 18. Hilfiger would go to New York City to buy jeans and bell-bottom pants, which he customized and resold at a local downtown Elmira store, Brown's.
He later opened his own store, named The People's Place, around the block in downtown Elmira. Although the store was a hot spot for teens with frequent contests and live DJ appearances, there were often more people hanging out than shopping. Over the years, a number of stores closed in downtown Elmira as shopping traffic shifted to the new Arnot Mall in Horseheads, New York. It wasn't long before The People's Place became another casualty. After seven years, The People's Place went bankrupt, when Hilfiger was 25. The site of the original store has since been demolished to make room for First Arena, home of the Elmira Jackals Hockey team.

Thomas Jacob "Tommy" Hilfiger (born March 24, 1951) is an American fashion designer and founder of the brand Tommy Hilfiger.
After turning to the design of clothing by designing for the rest of his stores in upstate New York, Hilfiger moved to New York City with his now estranged wife, Susie. Although he was offered design assistant positions with designers Calvin Klein and Perry Ellis, and was broke, he turned them both down with greater plans in mind.
In 1984, he founded the Tommy Hilfiger Corporation, (NYSE:TOM), with support from The Murjani Group, which went public in 1992, introducing his signature menswear collection. By 2004 the company had 5,400 employees and revenues in excess of $1.8 billion. Hilfiger was named Menswear Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 1997.
In 1998, Hilfiger gave singer Aaliyah her endorsement deal, in which he honored her in his Summer 1998 fashion show in Jamaica.
In 2005, a CBS TV reality show called The Cut tracked the progress of sixteen contestants as they competed for a design job with Hilfiger in similar fashion to Donald Trump's The Apprentice. In the end Hilfiger chose Chris Cortez.
Largely due to declining sales, in 2006, Tommy Hilfiger sold his company for $4 billion, or $16.80 a share, to Apax Partners, a private investment company. In March 2010, Phillips-Van Heusen, owner of Calvin Klein, bought the Tommy Hilfiger Corporation for $10 billion.
